Chongqing Liangjiang International Film City (重庆两江国际影视城) is a multifaceted tourist destination that seamlessly blends film production, cultural tourism, leisure, and historical charm. Its history dates back to 2012 when it was chosen as a filming location for the movie “Back to 1942,” with a total investment of 700 million yuan. Covering an expansive area of 460,000 square meters, this complex is a meticulously designed ensemble of antique buildings that takes its inspiration from the Republic of China era and the rich cultural heritage of Chongqing (巴渝).

In 2017, Chongqing Liangjiang International Film City achieved national recognition as an AAAA-rated tourist attraction, reflecting its remarkable appeal and quality. Over the years, this film city has served as the backdrop for numerous cinematic works, including the television series “Chongqing Negotiations” and the movie “The Cairo Declaration.” In November 2020, it was proudly named one of the “Top Ten Cultural and Tourism Industry Landmarks in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone.”

Liangjiang International Film City is located in the northeastern suburb of Chongqing. Its exact address is No. 268 Jinyu Avenue, Longxing Town, Yubei District. To get there, Tourists can take bus 966, 974, 979, 980, 984, 986, or 995 and get off at Liangjiang Yingshi Cheng Stop (两江影视城站).


Notable Historical Replicas

The Monument Commemorating Victory in the War of Resistance against Japan

Positioned at the northern edge of Chongqing Liangjiang International Film City, this monument is an impressive reconstruction of the 1946 Chongqing Victory Monument, which now stands as the People’s Liberation Monument in Yuzhong District. The recreation of this monument was completed in December 2016 at a 1:1 scale.


The Hengdeli Clock and Watch Store

Situated at the northern edge of the film city (intersection of Minquan Road and Zourong Road), this replica is based on the original Hengdeli Clock and Watch Store in Shanghai, which was located at the junction of Nanjing East Road and Henan Road. It was rebuilt in June 2016 in a 1:0.8 scale.


The Sino-French Grand Pharmacy

Located in the western part of Chongqing Liangjiang International Film City (intersection of Bao’an Road and Zourong Road), this replica is inspired by the Sino-French Grand Pharmacy’s Chongqing branch. The original pharmacy was situated on Bayi Road in Yuzhong District. Due to its historical and cultural significance, it was reconstructed at a 1:0.6 scale in May 2016.


The Rongchang Catholic Church

Positioned in the central-western part of Chongqing Liangjiang International Film City (between Shibaqi and Sānjiàotáng Street), this replica was created to meet the scene requirements for the film “Back to 1942.” Although it was not constructed during the film’s production, the scenes were shot on the original site. The replica, completed in October 2016 at a 1:0.8 scale, was designed to provide an authentic and immersive experience for visitors.


The Tourist Souvenirs Museum

Located in the central part of the film city (west of Duyou Street), this museum is a professional organization dedicated to showcasing a wide range of tourist souvenirs from the Chongqing area. Its extensive collection represents the cultural diversity and historical significance of the region. The museum serves as a platform for promoting and sharing the heritage of Chongqing through souvenirs, making it an engaging and informative attraction.


Jiahe Classical Camera Museum

Situated in the central part of Chongqing Liangjiang International Film City (east of Duyou Street), this museum is a haven for antique camera enthusiasts. Spanning three floors with a total area of 400 square meters, it houses a vast collection of vintage cameras from both China and abroad. The museum provides a unique glimpse into different eras, countries, and camera technologies, offering a fascinating journey through the history of photography.


The Jiangquantai Building

Located in the eastern part of Chongqing Liangjiang International Film City, this building replicates the original office of the American Da-Lai Company in Chongqing. The original structure was situated at 142 Baixiang Street in Yuzhong District, and it was faithfully rebuilt at a 1:1 scale in November 2016.
