Museo Militar de Kunming - Entradas, horarios, ubicación y puntos destacados
Situated on an expansive 18,000 square meter plot with a building area spanning 7,611 square meters, the Kunming Military Museum (昆明军事博物馆), housed in the Former Site of Yunnan Military Academy, stands as a testament to China’s military heritage. Founded in the first year of the Xuantong era (1909) as the Yunnan Military Academy, it served as a hub for military education until its closure in the twenty-fourth year of the Republic of China (1935). Later, in 1950, it became the Yunnan branch of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Military Political University, only to be relocated in 1958. However, its historical significance endured, leading to the establishment of the Yunnan Military Museum Management Office in 1990. Finally, in 2009, the museum itself was inaugurated, preserving a wealth of artifacts and narratives.
The museum boasts a collection of approximately 1,200 items, including 51 precious relics, reflecting the evolution of military education and the illustrious careers of its alumni. Divided into three main sections spanning over 2,600 square meters, the thematic exhibitions unfold across the east and south wings of the museum, covering a linear distance of 500 meters.
