Huaguoyuan Wetland Park (花果园湿地公园), nestled in the heart of Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, unfolds its natural charm amidst the lush surroundings of the Yungui Mountains. Huaguoyuan Wetland Park is centrally located in Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou Province, China. Situated in the Nanming District, the precise address of the park is 1 Huaguoyuan Avenue. To get there, you can choose one of the following ways:

Bus : Take bus 221, 261, or 313 and get off at Huaguoyuan Wetland Park Stop (花果园湿地公园站).

Métro : The closest metro station to Huaguoyuan Wetland Park is Huaguoyuan (花果园) on line 3. After getting out of the station from Exit B, you will be standing right at the entrance.


Highlights of Huaguoyuan Wetland Park

Botanical Section

The park is meticulously designed, featuring distinct zones that cater to different aspects of nature appreciation. Visitors can explore dedicated bird-watching areas, observe aquatic life in specialized fish-viewing zones, and engage in water-related activities in designated play areas. Divided into animal and plant zones, the botanical section boasts hundreds of ancient trees, thousands of deciduous and evergreen trees, and tens of thousands of shrubs. Among these, rare and valuable specimens such as Arhat pines, cedar, pagoda trees, petrified wood, perennial herbs, tung trees, maple trees, paulownia trees, ginkgo trees, soapberries, Chinese date trees, sunflowers, osmanthus, waxberries, camphor trees, and more than 700 other species thrive, collectively valued at a staggering 40 million yuan. Notably, the most precious tree, the Arhat pine, is estimated to be worth an astounding 1.3 million yuan.


Animal Zone

The animal zone encompasses approximately 3,500 square meters, featuring a bird zone with around 1,000 birds representing various species. This includes parrots, sparrows, oriental skylarks, black-headed buntings, white-faced hill mynas, warblers, yellow-rumped flycatchers, house swallows, magpies, mynas, song thrushes, spotted doves, red-billed blue magpies, and more. The waterfowl population comprises about 100 individuals, including black swans, mute swans, ducks, and mandarin ducks. For enthusiasts of aquatic life, the park offers a captivating display of ornamental fish, with approximately 3,000 specimens such as koi and goldfish that can be observed and even fed.


Lake Areas

Two additional lakes within the park are dedicated to the cultivation of wild fish, featuring species from the carp family, catfish, sturgeons, snakeheads, and loaches, totaling around 20,000 individuals. These lakes not only contribute to the park’s ecological diversity but also offer a glimpse into the intricate web of aquatic life.
