Weishui Scenic Area (洈水风景区), situated in the foothills of the Wuling Mountains, stands at the heart of the “Golden Triangle” of tourism, encompassing the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, Zhangjiajie, and the ancient city of Jingzhou. Comprising three main sections, namely Weishui Artificial Freshwater Lake, Weishui National Forest Park, and a group of karst caves, the scenic area spans a total area of 286 square kilometers.

Localização e transporte
Weishui Scenic Area is located in the southwestern part of Songzi City, Jingzhou City, Província de Hubei, China. It is approximately 80 kilometers away from the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and 100 kilometers from Zhangjiajie. Tourists can first take a train to Xizhai Station (西斋站) and then transfer to a taxi to cover the remaining 8 kilometers.

Weishui Reservoir
Weishui Reservoir is renowned as one of Asia’s notable artificial freshwater lakes. The Weishui Dam, stretching a total length of 8,968 meters, ranks as the largest artificial earthen dam in Asia. The vast expanse of the lake, with its crystalline and serene waters, presents a unified canvas of blue skies and water. The presence of 500 islands emerging from the lake’s surface creates a mosaic effect, dividing the water into distinct sections. With the changing tides, a continuous panorama of scenic beauty unfolds, where islands host lakes, and lakes foster islands, showcasing the harmonious interplay of water and land.
National Forest Park
The National Forest Park covers a total area of 52.8 square kilometers, boasting a forest coverage rate exceeding 80%. Here, flowers dance in the air, and lush grass carpets the mountainsides, creating an exceptional ecological environment. The park is a symphony of beauty throughout the seasons, with blooming flowers in spring, verdant trees in summer, picturesque moonscapes in autumn, and a blanket of snow in winter. This variety of landscapes transforms the forest park into an expansive and vibrant painting between heaven and earth.
General Yan’s Cave
General Yan’s Cave, situated in the central part of Weishui National Forest Park in Songzi City, Hubei Province, derives its name from General Yan Zhen, a military leader of the ancient Ba State during the Spring and Autumn Period. The cave complex comprises both underwater caverns and dry caves, with a total length of 2,168 meters, including a 782-meter-long underwater cave and a 1,386-meter-long dry cave. The cave is divided into three main scenic areas: the Underground Lake, General’s Pavilion, and Heaven-Reaching Gorge. The unique geological structures within the cave create a mesmerizing natural spectacle, with diverse formations such as flowing stone walls and stalactites resembling shields and clocks, showcasing nature’s intricate craftsmanship.
