Cuoka Lake (措卡湖), covering approximately 3 square kilometers, rests in Xinduqiao County, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, about 32 kilometers from the county town. Locally known as Cuoka Haizi or Zanduo Cuonama in Tibetan, the name translates to “black seawater among chaotic rocks” or “emerald” in the Tibetan language.

Because of the lake’s relatively remote location, you have to first take a coach to Garzê and then transfer to another coach to Xinlong, and finally another coach to Cuoka Lake, which means at least a day on the road.
