Different Zones of Dayu Mythological Park

The Upper Zone

The Upper Zone, which extends from the northern side of the Han Yang Bridge of the Yangtze River to the south of the Dayu Sacrificial Platform (now enclosed within a flood barrier wall), is adorned with exquisite sculptures. Here, you can find sculptures such as the Jade Faced Figures, Double Dragon Gates, a bronze depiction of “Ying Long Paints the River and the Sea,” and intricate carvings illustrating the legendary tales of Dayu and his father Gun’s endeavors in water management.

The Middle Zone

The Middle Zone, centered around the Dayu Sacrificial Platform and the adjacent Circular Nine Cauldron Square, boasts a collection of remarkable sculptures. These sculptures depict scenes like “Yu Born from the Splitting of Gun,” “Combat with the Flood-Dragon,” copper carvings of Yu’s inspection of the nine cauldrons, and a circular relief illustrating the myth of Dayu avoiding his own home three times. Notably, the “Northern Flood Control by Dayu” stands as one of the largest high-relief sculptures in the country, highlighting the grandeur of Dayu’s achievements.

The Lower Zone

The Lower Zone extends from the north side of the Dayu Sacrificial Platform to the riverside wall of the Qingchuan Pavilion area. This section features a series of scattered chain-like stone carvings depicting myths and legends related to Dayu’s southern flood control, along with blue stone seal carvings and a monumental 6-meter-high Zhenjiang Pillar.

China Flood Culture Exhibition Hall

In addition to the enchanting sculptures and carvings, the China Flood Culture Exhibition Hall offers visitors a chance to dive deeper into the rich history and cultural significance of Dayu’s flood control efforts. This hall, spanning approximately 80 meters and located near Han Yang’s Xima Changjie, boasts an 800-square-meter exhibition area with fascinating displays and artifacts that explore China’s flood culture.
