Located at the junction of Henan, Shanxi, and Hebei provinces in northwestern Henan Province, the Taihang Grand Canyon (太行大峡谷) covers a total area of 89 square kilometers. Stretching 50 kilometers from north to south and 1.5 kilometers from east to west, it boasts elevations ranging from 800 to 1739 meters. Also known as the Linzhou Grand Canyon due to its location in Linzhou County, the area features towering cliffs, rugged peaks, intricate terraces, rushing streams, and cascading waterfalls, epitomizing the quintessential landscapes of northern China. The core scenic areas include the Peach Blossom Valley with its cascading waterfalls, the Taihang Sky Road stretching over a hundred miles, the Wangxiang Rock representing the soul of the Taihang Mountains, the primitive ecological canyon rafting experience, and the fairyland-like Xianxia Valley.
Taihang Grand Canyon experiences distinct seasonal changes with ample sunshine throughout the year. Characterized by warm springs, hot summers, cool autumns, and cold winters, it exhibits significant fluctuations in temperature between seasons. Spring is characterized by low rainfall, with droughts occurring nine out of ten years, while summer often brings destructive torrential rains and flash floods. Autumn sees frequent winds and clear skies, while winter is marked by cold temperatures and sparse snowfall. Located in Shibanyan Township, Linzhou County, Anyang City, Henan Province, Taihang Grand Canyon lies in the northwest of Henan Province, at the eastern foot of the southern Taihang Mountains. To get there, you can take a tourist bus from Linzhou Bus South Station (林州市汽车南站) to Shibanyan Town (石板岩镇). The bus departs at 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM in the morning, and at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM in the afternoon.

Peach Blossom Valley
Known for its stunning landscapes, Peach Blossom Valley is famous for its unique combination of mountains, valleys, pools, and caves. Spanning 7 kilometers from east to west and 3.5 kilometers from north to south, with a total area of 14 square kilometers, it ranges in altitude from 800 to 1736 meters, offering a diverse range of experiences for visitors. The meandering Peach Blossom Creek runs through the canyon, flanked by hanging vines and dense forests. Along its course, the creek cascades into waterfalls, forming pools that connect seamlessly. Key attractions include Huanglong Pool, Flying Dragon Gorge, Hanzhu (Pearl-Inlaid) Rock, Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl, Nine Cascades, Peach Blossom Pool Waterfall, Peach Blossom Cave, and Tai Chi Ice Cave.
Wangxiang Rock
Nestled on the eastern bank of a stream, with cliffs to the west and steep slopes on both sides, Wangxiang Rock is enclosed within a secluded valley. The valley is characterized by its rugged terrain and lush vegetation, with various rare plant species such as Quercus liaotungensis, Quercus mongolica, Quercus fabricii, and Bauhinia variegata dotting the landscape. According to legend, King Wu Ding of the Shang Dynasty and the slave-born prime minister Fu Shuo once resided here, giving rise to the name Wangxiang Rock meaning King and Prime Minister Rock. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, the renowned scholar Xia Fu sought refuge here during the “Partisan Persecution,” while in the Ming Dynasty, Zhao Deshou, a scholar-official from Hebei Province, sought seclusion here to cultivate his moral character, refusing to leave the mountain. In the Qing Dynasty, Xu Sanli, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of War and Inspector of Captured Criminals, built a villa here to spend his later years.
Taihang Grand Canyon Rafting
