Dujiangyan(Click to learn more)： is the world’s oldest damless irrigation system. In contrast to the aura of Mount Qingcheng, Dujiangyan demonstrates the extraordinary wisdom of ancient Chinese people. Built in 256 BC, Chengdu was threatened by frequent floods due to the flooding of the Min River. As a result, Li Bing, a local official of Shu, and his son decided to build an irrigation system on the river to prevent flooding. After long research and years of effort by the local people, the great Dujiangyan irrigation project was completed. Today, the project still plays an important role in draining floods, irrigating farmland and providing water resources for more than 50 cities in Sichuan Province. It is the world’s oldest surviving and still functioning damless irrigation system.
