Haibao Pagoda (海宝塔, 海宝寺塔, Haibao Temple Pagoda), also known as the “North Pagoda” due to its alignment with Chengtiansi Pagoda in the west of Yinchuan City, dates back to the late Northern Dynasties to the Sui and Tang dynasties. After being renovated in 1712, the pagoda took its present form. However, in 1739, it was destroyed by an earthquake, and in 1778, it was rebuilt through donations from officials of both Han and Manchu origins.

Located on the central axis of Haibao Temple, the pagoda faces east and occupies a base area of 368.6 square meters. It is a square, nine-story, eleven-tier brick structure with a total height of 53.9 meters. The pagoda consists of four parts: the base, pedestal, body, and finial, all built using blue bricks. Inside, the pagoda features a series of square chambers connected by wooden floors, with each story slightly receding inward. A staircase allows visitors to ascend to the top floor.

The interior of Haibao Pagoda includes a small square chamber with niches on all sides. A winding brick passage leads visitors up to the second through tenth levels, which are similar in layout, divided by wooden beams and connected by staircases. The finial is adorned with green glazed bricks, forming a distinctive four-corner spire. Unlike traditional pagodas in China, the finial does not feature the typical elements such as the wheel or jewel ornament.

Haibao Pagoda is a unique fusion of Han Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist architectural styles, with influences from local Islamic traditions. It serves as a symbol of unity among the Han, Tibetan, and Hui ethnic groups. Every year, on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, the pagoda hosts the Ullambana Festival, drawing large crowds from the surrounding areas for vibrant celebrations.
